By Alex Staniforth | March 13, 2023 | 10 Minutes Read

As of the end of 2023, a total of 2,818 people have completed the Bob Graham Round (BGR), a classic Lake District sub-24-hour fell challenge. The BGR is a 66-mile (106 km) circular route with 27,000 feet (8,200 m) of elevation gain, and it must be completed within 24 hours. The BGR is considered one of the toughest endurance challenges in the UK, and it is a popular goal for many fell runners.

The Bob Graham Round was first completed in 1932 by Bob Graham, a local farmer and fell runner. Graham completed the round in 23 hours and 39 minutes, and his time stood as the record for over 50 years. The current record holder is Kilian Jornet, who completed the round in 12 hours and 57 minutes in 2021.

The BGR is a challenging but rewarding experience, and it is a great way to test your physical and mental limits. If you are planning to attempt the BGR, it is important to train properly and to be prepared for the tough conditions that you may encounter. You should also make sure to have a good support crew to help you along the way.
